Context
So far, in my experiments with printing 3D textiles, I have had success in printing ‘flat’ textiles and applique on tulle fabric. However, I want to have some texture, much like the video below. Most of these seem to be created by Stratasys J850 TechStyle 3D Printer. As I don’t have the thousands of dollars required to acquire one of these, I shall see what I can do with my Bambu Labs A1.
First Attempts
It is very easy to find a pattern online and import it as an SVG into Bambu Studio Slicer, However, the print has a flat top, with no fillet or bevel.
Enter Makerworld Relief Sculpture Maker
Makerworld is my go to place for creating unique 3D print models. I decided that it would be a good place to start by using the Relief Sculpture Maker. This made it very easy to create the same print but with cone shapes.
This then opened in Bambu Studio, but with a base. I actually experimented with this before and added a negative modifier to remove the base. On this occasion, I just pulled it below the base, before slicing.
Conclusion
I’m going to experiment with what else I can do with the relief sculpture tool. Watch this space!
